Cadmium Zinc Telluride (CZT) single crystal devices have proven to be valuable X-ray and gamma-ray detectors for high-resolution, high detection-efficiency, room-temperature radiation detectors that can achieve a resolution of <1% full-width half maximum (FWHM) at 662 keV. The high spatial and energy resolution of CZT, compared to that of scintillators, offers superior efficiency and image quality in nuclear safeguards, home-land security, nuclear medicine & X-ray/gamma-ray imaging applications. Recent developments with the Accelerated Crucible Rotation Technique now allows CZT to be grown at faster rates than conventional growth techniques while not requiring lengthy post-growth processing.
